Our Story

The best stories start with wholesome ingredients, just like the bagels in our bakery and deli. Back in 1995, Village Bagels planted roots on Westport Avenue in Norwalk, CT. Darren Monaco worked here with his family and built relationships with each local that stopped in daily for their usual bagel and smear. When Randi came home for college breaks, she would run in to Village Bagels to grab her father's order. She began to notice the cute, slightly older boy who ran the register.

In the background, employee Diaz noticed the subtle connection between the two young adults, and he watched as their story started to unfold. He knew Darren was smitten long before he would ever admit it, and the spark of young love made the small bagel shop feel more alive than ever before.

A few years passed and their love grew, bringing them together in more ways than one. The bagel shop gained a new bagel princess, and Village Bagels solidified their place in Fairfield County as the go-to shop for authentic New York style bagels. When Darren passed away in recent years, Randi became the sole owner of Village Bagels. Darren's legacy still lights the fires of the ovens that bake the bagels every morning, and the original recipes are still in use.

While the name may have updated, the same great hospitality and freshly made products still don the shelves of this Fairfield County gem. We invite you to stop in and say hi, and relive the nostalgia of how a dash of love and hard work mix together for the perfect bagel, just the right amount of chewy, that will keep you coming back for more.

We serve traditional New York style bagels that are fresh, delicious, satisfying, and wholesome. Our bakery also stocks other freshly made items each day. From daily breads to special pastries, everything is prepared and baked fresh daily.

Our recipes have been passed down from one generation to the next, proudly combining our roots, our heritage, and our dreams. Stop by, say hi, and grab a bagel or two. We can't wait to see you.
